Ezekwesili hints at running against Buhari

A former minister of education and ex-vice president of World Bank, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has hinted the possibility of running for an elective office in Nigeria's forthcoming general election.

Ezekwesili in a series of tweet on Wednesday, September 12, hinted that she might be challenging President Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential election.

In her tweets, the former minister, who has also been a strong critic of the president asked if it was already late to join the race for 2019.

Campaigning for the #RedCardMovement, aimed at “retiring old politicians” she asked those who understand the electoral calendar if it is already late to challenge all the "old order candidates of the Siamese-Twins of Bad Leadership &Governance Failure?"

She said was thinking it is time to step and send them packing for good. She called on Nigerians to arise and take on the old politicians who have refused to retire.

Ezekwesili also added that she researched and discovered that President Buhari declared to run for 2015 presidency on October 8, 2014 indicting it would not be late for anyone to declare an ambition to run for presidency now.

"He declared on October 8, 2014. Folks, IT IS NOT LATE o. #LetsFightForIt," she said.

She also said that knowing herself, once her mind is made up, there is no stopping her.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Buhari has submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja shortly after presiding over the federal executive council meeting on Wednesday, September 12.

It was reported earlier that President Buhari was expected at the APC national secretariat on Wednesday, September 12, to submit his nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2019 presidential election.
