28-year-old lady who was given 3 weeks to live made her debut at New York Fashion Week

It is that time of the year again, when fashion lovers are most excited to see the best of the trends to watch out for. New York Fashion Week not only brought the best of fashion, it also celebrated diversity.

A 28-year-old model activist identified as Mama Cax has made her modelling debut during the New York Fashion Show. The model-activist walked the runway for the first time wearing a white prosthetic leg.

Mama Cax who was diagnosed with bone and lung cancer when she was 14 years old, beat all odds after she was told she had only three weeks to live.

The 28-year-old was dressed in a yellow and black two-piece, wrapped in a string of tiny blue lights around her prosthetic leg. It was gathered that she had lost her right leg with an amputation at the hip.

In an interview, Cax said: "I probably waited a good three years before going to a swimming pool or even the beach and that was mostly due to the fact that I was never comfortable in my body."

Mama Cax was also on the cover of Teen Vogue along with Jillian Mercado and Chelsea Werner, two other powerful voices in the disabled community.
