Ohanaeze Ndigbo urges FG to help curb disaster in Ebonyi, Abia states

-An Igbo group has called the attention of the FG to erosion in both Abia and Ebonyi states

- The president of the group said the conditions of roads in the affected areas are deplorable

- He urged FG to corroborate with government at state level to bring succour to the areas

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has appealed to the federal government to help the people of Isuikwuato and Abakaliki-Ugep of both Abia and Ebonyi states respectively curb the recurring erosion affecting the places.

Vanguard reports that the appeal was made in Abakaliki on Saturday, September 8, by the deputy president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Obinna Achuonye.

Achuonye, who said the affected places have become danger zones for motorists, also reiterated that only federal government's attention together with the efforts of the states government can save the places from their current deplorable state.

He said: "The states had witnessed massive infrastructural facelifts in Abia and Abakaliki, and urge federal government to compliment the efforts of these two governors in area of erosion control in isuikwuato and Abakiliki ugep road which is now a death trap for motorists.

“We applaud the mutual cooperation between President Buhari and these two governors, especially with high regards to ensuring that southeast get their fair share from the projects and economic programs of President Buhari. These two governors ensure that irrespective of party politics, Governors Ikpeazu and Ugwanyi synergy with federal government will yield results to Ndigbo."

“We are happy with the development strides of Governors Ikpeazu and Umahi in Abia and Ebonyi states."

Achuonye also used the platform to commend the Abia and Ebonyi governors, adding that their commitment towards the welfare of their states' citizens will help them win the coming poll in 2019.

He said: "Dr Ikpeazu will win in the next polls based on his humility and peaceful disposition and made in Aba products which had restored confidence in local traders and artisans to compete favourable in African markets and world’s markets."

"And Governor Umahi remains an embodiment of unity among Igbo’s, his approach to governance in Ebonyi is unprecedented, we advice federal government to explore this relationship between President Buhari and Governors Ikpeazu and Umahi for mutual development."

“Abians and Ebonyians are behind their governors in 2019, and let nobody be deceived that they’re in charge of southeast, the Igbo youths will only listen to these two governors regards to where Ndigbo will vote in 2019, there’s no alternatives in Abia and Ebonyi states regards to governorship elections rather than governors Ikpeazu and Umahi.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that erosion in Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka local government area of Anambra, had taken over 70.5 hectares of the communal land with over 2km in length.

The disaster washed away many farmlands, economic trees and public utilities. It also washed away about 100 homes and left many others injured.
