- In response to Governor Rauf Aregbesola's questioning of his qualification for governorship, Senator Ademola Adeleke has fired back
- Adeleke, a PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, alleged that Aregbesola has plunged Osun into misery and poverty
- The senator further said that in the September 22 governorship polls, only the welfare of the people will be the determining factor
Senator Ademola Adeleke, an Osun governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has slammed Governor Rauf Aregbesola, tasking him to account for how he allegedly led the state into abject poverty, Nigerian Tribune reports.
In his reaction to Aregbesola's questioning of his qualification for governorship, Adeleke raised questions about his reportedly suspicious engineering credentials. Adeleke said: “The fake engineer has run our state aground.
"I call on the governor to account for how he accumulated so much debt with questionable capital projects while still unable to pay salaries and pensioners’ emoluments.
“Our people will be interested in knowing how misery and poverty have tripled under Aregbesola’s watch,” Adeleke stated.
He pointed out that in the forthcoming governorship polls, the ultimate criterion would be the people's standard of living, which, according to him, has deteriorated under the Aregbesola-led government. He added that no effort to distract the masses' attention from reality will succeed.
The gubernatorial aspirant said: “By the constitution and extant laws, I am qualified to run for governorship. And as a Senator of the Federal republic, I have demonstrated capacity and innovation. Osun people want a solution provider, not a harbinger of half salary and repressive governance.”
He reaffirmed his vow to make things better for Osun people using his six-point agenda. In this regard, he said: “Our first focus will be to tackle poverty and restore worker’s welfare.”
