- The England international has been a summer target for Jose Mourinho
- The 25-year-old has has an impressive outing for the Three Lions at the World Cup
England central defender Harry Maguire has committed his long-term future to Leicester by signing a new five-year deal to keep him at King Power stadium until 2023.
The 25-year-old was close to joining Manchester United in the summer following an impressive World Cup campaign with England.
However, Maguire has now ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new deal with the Foxes.
After signing his new contract, Maguire told LFCTV: "Ever since I came to this club, I've always reiterated how good they've been to me.
"They gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League and built a great platform for me to go and perform at the World Cup, so I thank them a lot. I owe them a lot and I'm looking forward to the future."
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho had wanted to splash £75million on Maguire this summer but a deal never materialised with Leicester holding firm to keep hold of the defender.
The former Sheffield United and Hull city defender joined Leicester a little over a year ago and has since established himself as a regular for club and country.
He scored his first international goal at the World Cup against Sweden in quarter finals, heading home England's second from Ashley Young's cross.
Maguire also made an assist for Harry Kane in England's opening fixture against Tunisia where they won by 2-1.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Manchester United were left speechless in their chase for Leicester City star Harry Maguire after the Foxes asked for a record-equaling deal for the defender.
Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho is eager to land a centre-back at the ongoing summer transfer and the Old Trafford dwellers tried to price Maguire two weeks ago after failing to seal a move for Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld with the North London side insisting on £75million.
