Enrique wins first match as Spain coach with a 2-1 victory over England

Luis Enrique won his first match in charge as Spain's coach with a 2-1 victory over England at the Wembley Stadium in the Uefa Nations League.

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashord scored the first goal for the Three Lions in their first genuine threat on goal.

Th 21-year-old was found in the box by his United teammate Luke Shaw as he tucked the ball past David De Gea.

Spain responded almost immediately as Rodrigo was given time and space to find Saul Niguez who pounced on the low cross to make the score 1-1.

The Valencia striker registered his goal in the match in the 32nd minute as Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantra provided the assist to make the scores 2-1 to Spain.

The second half produced no goals but Rashford was denied by De Gea on a couple of occasions to keep the scoreline in favour of the Spanish side.

England were denied an equalizer when Danny Welback was adjudged to have fouled an aerial contest with Red Devils number one.

It was the visitors who ran away with the win as Enrique registered his first win as national team coach after taking the mantle from Fernando Hierro in the summer.

Meanwhile Legit.ng had earlier reported that Brazil put their Russia 2018 World Cup disappointment behind them as they overpowered a young USA side by 2-0.

Coach Tite fielded a strong squad for the encounter with a front line of Neymar, Roberto Firmino and Douglas Costa.
