Germany defender Antonio Rudiger has apologized to France star Benjamin Pavard after catching him with his studs during last night's friendly draw. .

The 25-year-old took to his social media handle to plead his innocence and confirmed he had apologised to Pavard after leaving stud marks on him.

Rudiger said: "Sorry for @BenPavard28, it wasn't intentional.

"I have apologized to him right after it happened and I also want to use this opportunity to wish him a speedy recovery!"

The Chelsea center-back was tackled by the World Cup winner in the UEFA Nations League clash between the two football heavyweights.

And in doing so, Rudiger made a tame attempt to lift his foot over the skidding body of Pavard, and his boot came down heavily on Frenchman.

When the Stuttgart ace got bruises on his neck from the challenge which were clearly visible.

The former Roma centre-back apologized on the pitch but was heavily criticized on Twitter for what many thought was a deliberate stamp.

Rudiger was later cautioned for a tackle on 22-year-old with two minutes of the match remaining at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
