English champions Manchester City are battling to keep youngster Brahim Diaz with Real Madrid ready to snap the youngster, according to reports.

Diaz has been earmarked as a star of the future and is destined to make a breakthrough into Pep Guardiola’s first-team set up.

He made ten appearances as City won the Premier League last season, and has played just once this term so far in the Community Shield win over Chelsea.

Diaz refused a move to City-owned La Liga side Girona after telling Guardiola he wanted to fight for a place with the Premier League champions.

But the attacking midfielder's chances could be limited this season with the likes of Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gudogan and Phil Foden who are all struggling for regular game time.
