Kano state governor, Umar Ganduje will on Friday, September 7, accompany the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomole to pay a visit to former Kano state governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau ahead of his official defection to the APC on Saturday, September 8.
The national leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a number of other party members would also accompany the ruling party leaders.
It was earlier reported that the former Kano state governor was set to return to his former party, the APC, due to the insistence of the PDP national headquarters of the party to dissolve the state executives without recourse to due process and despite a court restraining order.
According to the report, Shekarau's decision became imperative over what the onetime minister of education termed “lack of internal democracy in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
He also cited injustice by the party headquarters to Kano PDP members and elders as responsible, in part, for his decision.
Legit.ng previously reported that there are speculations that the alleged plot by Ibrahim Shekarau to decamp from the Peoples Democratic Party is bound to create uncertainties for enthusiasts who had expected the combination of Shekarau and Rabiu Kwankwanso to neutralise President Muhammadu Buhari’s ascendancy in the state.

Shekarau’s exit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) could also prove beneficial for the second term aspiration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje who Kwankwanso has vowed to stop from being re-elected.
