Manchester United reportedly ready to replace Mourinho with Wolves boss Nuno Santo

Struggling Premier League side Manchester United are reportedly lining up Wolves manager Nuno Santo as Jose Mourinho's replacement.

According to German media outfit Bild, the current Wolves boss Santo is also in the running to replace the ex-Real Madrid manager.

United's Portuguese manager have constantly lamented the lack of transfer activity amid reports he desperately fought for players such as Willian, Ivan Perisic and Toby Alderweireld over the summer.

However the Red Devils' chief Ed Woodward was only interested in signing younger players, but in the end no-one arrived.

There were also problems during pre-season with French star Anthony Martial after failing to return in time to United's tour of the United States following the birth his child in Paris.

Mourinho fined the 22-year-old and was willing to sell him to make way for Willian, but again Woodward stepped in.

It now appears Martial will be offered a new-five-year to remain at Old Trafford instead of granting Mourinho's wish.

With two losses in four games already in the new Premier League season, it is not what United fans had hoped for.

The first was a shock loss to Brighton after losing 3-2 whilst the following week Tottenham thrashed them at home 3-0.

And while the ex-Chelsea coach still retains the support of the board, there are preparations being made in case of his departure.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Premier League giants Manchester United had to cancel a deadline day private jet after Diego Godin turned them down, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho was hoping to sign the Atletico Madrid star to bolster his defence in a race against time deal.
