Boko Haram insurgents are not Muslims - Islamic scholar declares

- An Islamic scholar, Adam Okene Ahmed, has made some eye-opening comments on the identity of Boko Haram terrorists

- Ahmed said that these insurgents use Islam as shield to perpetuate the wicked and unthinkable crimes across Nigeria

- He further revealed that between 2011 and 2015, not less than 200 Muslim scholars were killed by this evil group

Professor Adam Okene Ahmed, an Islamic scholar, has said that Boko Haram group, also known as Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Liddaawati Wal-jihad, does not stand for the fundamentals of Islam, The Guardian reports.

Speaking at the seventh professorial inaugural lecture series of Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on Tuesday, September 4, in Kaduna, Ahmed said that more than 200 famous Islamic scholars had been killed by the terrorists between 2011 and 2015 during which time their crimes came to the peak.

During the lecture titled, Boko Haram Since 2009: A Study in Security History, the scholar stated: “There’s no doubt that Boko Haram and its activities can be traced to Islam but only as heretical and vicious sect inside the fold.

“Boko Haram’s leadership has consistently been claiming this position and has tried severally to justify their Islam-ness by relying on textual and scriptural evidences that they often than not quote out of context and without the chains and justifications of revelation.”

Ahmed further said that some of these proofs include the abduction of girls and forcing them to change their religion whereas “Islam says let there be no compulsion in religion.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a search and rescue team of the Nigerian Army had reportedly recovered 17 additional bodies of gallant Nigerian soldiers who lost their lives while preventing Boko Haram insurgents from overturning their base on Thursday, August 30.

Legit.ng gathered that the team recovered the remains of one officer and 16 soldiers in the general area of Mobbar local government area of Borno state.
