I joined Black Axe cult because I was told I'll meet Davido - Suspected cultist

- 27 suspected cultists were paraded on September 5, by the police commissioner, Imohimi Edgal

- One of the paraded cultists, Obi Adegoke confessed to be a member of the Black Axe cult

- According to him, he joined the cult so he could easily meet with Nigerian singer, Davido

Cultism is one of the menaces faced in the Nigerian society, and the Nigerian government through the police and Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has tried to curb it.

On Wednesday, September 5, 27 suspected cultists were paraded by the police commissioner, Imohimi Edgal.

According to several reports, one of the suspects, Obi Adegoke, confessed to being a Black Axe member but he also renounced his membership because according to him, he joined the cult to enable him meet with DMW artiste, Davido, but he had not met with him since he joined the cult till his arrest.

It has been rumoured that Davido is a Black Axe member even though there has been no proof or indication of this.

The 25-year-old Adegoke further revealed that he is also into music and wanted to meet with Davido so that he would help his music career.

He said:

“I am an Aiye member (Black Axe). I have been in the cult for about two years. I was told that Davido was a member and if I join, I will be able to meet him.

“It was the guy who initiated me that said so. He said he worked for Davido and that it will be easy access. But since I joined, I have not met Davido. They told me I’ll become a very popular musician but see where I am now.

“I am renouncing my membership of Aiye. I will never belong to any cult again. They should look at my face very well. They will never see me in their midst again.”

He further revealed that since he joined the cult, he had never killed anybody or done anything criminal, he also said that he just wanted to promote his music career.

“I lived at Oniru in Lekki. I used to be a domestic help. Since I joined, I have not done anything bad. I have not killed anybody. I just wanted to be a famous musician.”

Adegoke further explained that he used to be a domestic help at Oniru, Lekki, but he now wished he was steadfast in his ways so as to avoid the trouble he is in now.

Legit.ng earlier reported that a physically challenged man has taken up the job of a conductor to make ends meet.

It is always pleasing to see people who are not held back by their disabilities, but instead make a honest living for themselves.
