Lionel Messi reveals he wants to improve his penalty taking

- Lionel Messi believes he needs to improve on penalty taking

- He was recently snubbed by FIFA in the nomination for the best player award

- Mohamed Salah, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric made the final shortlist

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is known to be one of the greatest footballers playing the round leather game considering what he has achieved in his career in football.

Since the Argentina international began his career, he has netted 621 goals for club and country and has also won many titles for the Catalan giants.

But recently, Lionel Messi was snubbed by FIFA in the best player of the year award as the world football governing body shortlisted Ronaldo, Salah and Modric.

And while speaking on Catalunya Radio, Lionel Messi revealed the position where he needs to improve in his game.

“The penalties. I'd like to be more effective.

"It's very difficult. It's not the same to practice them as it is to take them in a game.

"There are a lot of other factors at play. You can have a plan or have an idea about what to do, but when the moment comes it's much more difficult to do it than it looks.

"Today's goalkeepers save some penalties that the ones in the past wouldn't have.

“But, yeah, this is a thing that I'd like to be better at,'' Lionel Messi explained.

Messi has converted 71 out of the 88 spot-kicks he has taken throughout his career which is a success rate of just over 80 per cent.
