Members of the Sokoto state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for re-election in the 2019 general elections. This is coming less than three weeks to the APC primaries.
The members also unanimously opted for the indirect primary.
The Nation reports that a vote of confidence was also passed on the chairman of northern senators forum, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, and affirmed him as its only leader in the state.
Legit.ng gathers that the party held a routine stakeholders' meeting in Sokoto on Tuesday, September 4, where the decisions and other decisions were made.
The meeting, which was presided over by the state deputy governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, was attended by the executives of the party at the state and local government levels as well as other key stakeholders of the party.
While briefing newsmen after the meeting, Sokoto said: "The meeting also expressed happiness with the exemplary and unparalleled way and manner Senator Wamakko is manning the affairs of the great party.
”Accordingly, we endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the forthcoming polls.
"We have unanimously adopted indirect primary election and consensus as the process to select candidates for all positions in the state."
Some of those in attendance were the seven incumbent House of Representatives members of the party and the twelve members of the state House of Assembly.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari was endorsed to seek re-election in the 2019 presidential election.
The president was endorsed by the national executives of Change Advocates of Nigeria (CAN), Nigeria and Diaspora.
The body in a statement signed by its national youths leader, Gabriel Nwajei, which was made available to newsmen recently in Asaba, said, the president had demonstrated courage in taking major decisions that had impacted the people positively.
