Governorship aspirant faults handover of Benue PDP to Ortom

- Dr Tivlumun Nyitse said the handing over of the party’s structure to Governor Samuel Ortom

- He said aspirants nursing governorship ambition will lose interest in the party

- Going further, he said the decision would create a problem for the party

Tivlumun Nyitse, a governorship aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue state said handing over of party’s structure to Governor Samuel Ortom will make members lose interest in the party.

He disclosed this on Tuesday, September 4, while reacting to the decision of the party leadership to hand over the party structure in Benue state to Ortom.

Nyitse who said the decision was against the principle of natural justice insisted that it was not right that the party’s structure should be handed over to Ortom.

“Those who have been in the party should not be made to suffer for those who just came back. This is against natural justice and could lead to apathy amongst members.

“There must be some elements of consideration to uphold the survival of the party; let what will enhance the survival of the party be done. You do not need to have anybody in the party structure to contest any position.

“The governor is the leader of the party in the state, there is no doubt about that; but to put the party structure in his care is undemocratic and not in the interest of the party,” Nyitse fumed.

Meanwhile, had reported that leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue state, on Monday, September 3, handed the entire structures of the party to the Governor Samuel Ortom. learnt that the party also made Governor Ortom its leader in the state.

Announcing the decision of the leaders at an expanded caucus meeting held at the new Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, Sir John Ngbede, the PDP chairman in the state, said with the development, the party had been fused into one indivisible entity without factions.
