- Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has blamed some faceless people for the recent crisis in the state's chapter of the APC
- The governor promised that the party would provide a level playing field for all aspirants during the coming primaries
- Ajimobi said despite insinuations that the party membership has been depleted, it is still on top of the game in the state
Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state has said that the recent crisis witnessed in the All Progressives Congress (APC) was sponsored by faceless individuals who encouraged rebellious activities by a group of people to destroy the party in the state, The Punch reports.
Legit.ng gathered that the governor, who spoke during a meeting of the Oyo South senatorial district in Ibadan, also stated that the party would provide a level playing field for all aspirants during the coming primaries.
The Oyo state governor added that the huge presence of party members at the meeting showed that the crisis had no effect on the popularity of the party.
He added that after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and the national executive of the party in Abuja recently, the party had been repositioned ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Ajimobi said: “We also realised that some faceless people were behind the crisis that we experienced recently in our party in Oyo state; they were the one sponsoring the dissident group. I am, however, happy that despite the insinuations that our party membership has been depleted because of the actions of the group, we still have this huge presence of members here. This is an indication that we are on top of the game.
“The meeting we held with President Buhari in Abuja last week was to fashion out ways of repositioning the party for victory in the 2019 general elections. The meeting was also used to review the activities of our party."
