A 27-year-old welder and father of three, Tunde Yaya, has reportedly killed himself in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state.
Legit.ng regional reporter in Oyo state, Newman Babson, reports that the incident occurred on Sunday, September 2, after the Muslim evening prayer at Lakuri Olorunda in the Akinyele local government area of the state.
It was gathered that sources hinted that the main cause of the tragedy was a failed business transaction between late Tunde and an elderly man who gave him a welding job.
Tunde was said to have visited his client to demand for his five thousand Naira balance out of N75,000 which the latter promised to give him after successful completion and handing over of the work.
Legit.ng also gathered that when the owner of the work visited Tunde's workshop, he felt dissatisfied and people intervened to avert conflict.
It was revealed that the deceased was said to have demanded additional N12,300 to which his client obliged.
However, when relations of the deceased could not find him at home, they set up a search party which found him in a bush hanging on a tree near Odogbo Army barrack on Sunday evening.
No note was found on him though speculation was rife that he killed himself because of the outstanding business failure
Yemi who claimed to be a good friend of Tunde was said to have told him to take the matter cool as the work would be successfully completed, adding that he did not expect his friend to kill himself over such a trivial issue.
He disclosed that he accompanied the deceased to Bodija market during the weekend to buy more items for the job adding that, "what I now heard devastated me.
The father of the deceased, Daddy Amodu, described the death of his son as a blow on him, saying that he least expected such in his family.
Legit.ng confirmed Monday afternoon, September 3, that the body of the deceased would be released after a traditional rite in the community.
Police at Ojoo declined comment on the matter and efforts to reach the spokesman for the state police command, SP Adekunke Ajisebutu were futile as at press time.
