Police bust alleged killer kidnappers’ base, many arrested as vehicles are recovered

- The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) paraded the suspected kidnappers in Abuja

Jimoh Moshood gave details of their names and the arms and other materials recovered from the suspects

- Moshood said the suspects had always terrorised areas in the northern part of Nigeria

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced a major success in the battle to rid most parts of the country of criminals with the arrest of several alleged kidnappers operating in northern towns and villages.

Parading some of the suspects and the exhibits recovered from them, Jimoh Moshood, a deputy commissioner of police and spokesperson of force, gave details of their operations.

Moshood gave the names of the first gang of alleged kidnappers and armed robbers arrested to include Shefiyu Abdullahi (gang leader) and Umar Suleiman, also known as Wada. He said two AK 47 rifles were recovered from them.

According to him, “These suspects were arrested after a gun battle with the operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) on August 16, 2018. During exchange of fire three of the suspects were killed by the team.”

Jimoh added that the suspects confessed to be responsible for the kidnap of Sheik Mohammed Ahmed Alqarkawi and the receipt of N12 million.

“They also confessed to be members of gang that ambushed and killed four police men attached to IRT in Kaduna State. Investigation into the matter is being concluded and suspects will be arraigned in court,” he said.

The police spokesperson also paraded a gang that allegedly carried out killings in Zamfara. He listed the suspects to include:

1. Yinusa Musa aka (Mukoro )– Sectional Cmdr of the bandits in Zamfara

2. Abubakar Sanni (aka Zandari)- Sectional Cmdr of the bandits in Zamfara

3. Mohammed Abubakar (aka Mujuma)

4. Umar Sani

5. Abubakar Mohammed Kata

He also listed the exhibits recovered from them to include: seven AK47 rifles recovered from them.

“This gang confessed to have been responsible for series of attacks and killing of innocent people in villages and towns in Zamfara, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Nasarawa and Kogi states.

"They also engaged in cattle rustling, kidnaps for ransom and armed robberies in the mentioned states. Efforts are being intensified to arrest other suspects still at large,” he said.

Another set of armed robbery gang terrorizing Zamfara state were listed as Yusuf Mohammed (Gang leader), Auta Bello, Nnamdi Mbadiwe and Adamu Rabiu with some weapons recovered from them.

In Kaduna and Kano, the police arrested seven car snatchers including Ibrahim Usman, also known as Sanni, Ahmed Isah better known as Manchi, Mohammed Abubakar, Abdulmalik Alhaji, Isah Sanni, Bashir Buda, and Lawal Shuaibu.

A Toyota Corolla and a Rav 4 jeep were recovered from the suspects.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the police command in Enugu state, on Monday, September 3, said it arrested a school headmaster, Idoko Nathaniel, 50, of Mkpamteulo village, for allegedly defiling four pupils put under his care.
