Embattled Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly planning to sign Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.

The Portuguese tactician was subjected to heavy criticism following his side's back to back defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur in their second and third Premier League encounters.

However, his side's 2-0 away win over Burnley at Turf Moor gave the 55-year-old some break from those calling for his head.

Meanwhile, the former Real Madrid boss seems to be tired of Paul Pogba's attitudes ar Old Trafford and he seems to be preparing for life after the World Cup winning star at the club.

Mourinho on his arrival in 2016 signed the Frenchman in a deal around £89 million and both won the Europa League title in their debut season.

The former Juventus star played an important role in Les Blues Russia 2018 triumph - scoring one of the four goals that helped them conquer Croatia in the final of the tourney. But despite his success with his country, his club career remains in doubt.

Pogba fell out with Jose Mourinho on numerous occasions last season and there have been reports that the Portuguese coach is prepared to offload him.

According to Daily Star citing Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Germany international Kroos is the ideal man the handler is looking out for as Pogba's replacement and wants a deal sorted out for January.

Barcelona have shown interest in signing the French star but Real could take advantage of the deal by using Kroos as part of a deal to land the ex-Juve star.

And that is the only way Kroos would be allowed to leave the Bernabeu, according to Don Balon. earlier reported that Manchester United have relaunched their bid to sign Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos this summer.

The Red Devils are planning to strengthen their squad following their poor performance in all competitions last term.
