Officers transferred out of the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) by the acting director general of the agency, Mathew Seiyefa, when he resumed on August 1, have been recalled.

Punch reports that Seiyefa immediately carried out some re-organisations immediately he assumed office.

Legit.ng gathers that the director of operations, Bassey Eteng, and another director, Grace Kentebe, were among those transferred by the acting director general.

A source close to the agency said: “There is tension everywhere because the directive has been complied with by personnel, most especially by those who instigated it. Both Eteng and Kentebe have reported. Personnel morale is at its lowest ebb.

“Even quite a significant number of the personnel of northern extraction are not happy with the chief of staff because they said himself and the ousted DG had not been good to the service.

“Meanwhile, there is every possibility that the service may witness an unprecedented protest against the undue interference in the affairs of the service by the chief of staff to the president.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that controversy was allegedly brewing at the Department of Security Services (DSS) following alleged directive from the presidency asking the acting director general, Mathew Seiyefa, to reverse recent changes he made at the agency.

Following the sack of Lawal Daura as the director general, Seiyefa immediately commenced re-organisation of the DSS by constituting a committee comprising directors and management staff to reform the agency.
