APC members defy Oshiomhole's order, go on with ‘Illegal’ meeting

- In disobedience to a warning by the leadership of the APC, some members of the ruling party have convened a meeting in Abuja

- The meeting was held just a few hours after party's national publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, issued a statement demanding them to do otherwise

- In his statement, Nabena said that whatever decision that will be made in such a meeting will be null and void

Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have met in Abuja, just a few hours after the party leadership warned against the convening of the meeting, Channels Televsion reports.

Yekini Nabena, the party's acting national publicity secretary, had issued a statement in which he drew the attention to what he described as an illegal meeting scheduled to be held on Sunday, September 3, in Abuja by some party members.

In the statement, Nabena had said that the meeting was aimed at decrying the decisions made by the party regarding the modus operandi for the primaries to elect candidates ahead of 2019.

Nabena also warned that the outcome of such a meeting will be a nullity and asked party members to disregard it. Not even one among the attendees of the meeting agreed to speak with newsmen.

However, it was learnt that some of those in attendance were chairmen of the state chapters of the party.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the chairman, Senate committee on agriculture, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, on Thursday, June 28, described President Muhammadu Buhari and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as good brands for the APC.

Abdullahi, the senator representing Nasarawa west senatorial district in the National Assembly, stated this in a goodwill message to the due after the successful national convention of the ruling party.
