- Messi will not be winning the FIFA's Best award this year

- The Barcelona superstar did not make the final shortlist

- Ronaldo alongside Modric and Salah made the final three

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has been excluded from the podium for FIFA's Best award after the final shortlists were leaked.

The Best Men's Player will not be won by the Argentine star this year, despite a magnificent season for the Catalan giants.

Failure to go farther with Argentina at the World Cup or win the Champions League has proved decisive for the selection.

However, the award will be won by one of the following, in a list leaked by Sport: Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah.

The Croatian midfielder has already won best player at last week's Champions League awards, which infuriated Ronaldo as the Juventus striker failed to turn up for the awards.

Messi was part of the initial top 10 nominees, with Kevin De Bruyne, Raphael Varane, Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe who were all snubbed for the coveted award.
