After 3-day warning strike, Osun workers return to work

- Workers in the state of Osun have resumed to work after a 3-day warning strike

- They reportedly embarked on the strike over non-payment of salaries and other entitlements

- They said the workers will know where to move the bearing of their ship to after meeting with the state government

The state of Osun workers have returned to work after 3-day warning strike embarked upon, following the directives given by the state Joint Labour Unions, Punch has reported.

Recall that on Tuesday, August 28, the civil servants and workers in the state were directed to cease coming to work in an attempt aimed at registering their grievances to government on issues pertaining to salary payment and other entitlements. further gathers that the labour unions which gave the instruction comprise the Joint Negotiating Council, Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.

Their demand from the government is that it must ensure:“The payment of 34 months pension arrears of retired workers in the state, remittance of 34 months contributory pension arrears, payment of outstanding gratuity to all pensioners, and payment of 2016 leave allowances across board to officers of the state government."

Jacob Adekomi, the state NLC chairman who confirmed that workers have resumed to their various offices, however, said they have not met with the state government to know their next move.

He said:"They (the government) said they are in Abuja, and they would meet us when they return this week. We are waiting for them to meet with us, so that we will know the next line of action." has earlier reported that Jacob Adekomi, the chairman of the Osun state's chapter of NLC in Osogbo announced that the state workers would go on strike.
