- Danny Ings has revealed he is on a crazy bet with Mohamed Salah
- The 26-year-old is currently on loan with Southampton with Liverpool
- Both Ings and Salah are currently on two Premier League goals apiece
Southampton striker Danny Ings is back firing and breeding confidence - with the ambitious wager predicting will score more goals this season as Mohamed Salah .
The 26-year-old, who joined the Saints on loan last month, scored on Saturday as Mark Hughes sealed their first Premier League win of the season at Crystal Palace.
The England international scored his second goal in four league games, with ex-Liverpool team-mate Salah on the same tally for the season so far.
Ings now looks well on the road to rediscovering this goalscoring form at Burnley that earned him a move to Anfield in the first place back in June 2015.
However, going by Salah's 44 goals in all competitions last season, it will be quite the task for Ings to outdo the Egyptian - though it will not be for the fault of trying.
Speaking about the bet he said: “[We’ve got] a little one. Mo is Mo. One of the best players in the world.
“It was more of a bit of banter between us. Mo’s a good friend of mine. Everything he gets he deserves.
“There’s not many more humble players in football. It’s a bit of a laugh. Hopefully, we’ll both score plenty of goals this season.
“Can I beat him? It would be incredible wouldn’t it? I’m just working every day to improve. I’ve missed a lot of football.”
However, there won't be any actual cash up for stake - as given Salah's record, Ings is no fool.
He added: “I wouldn’t be stupid enough to put any cash on it! It’s just a bit of banter.
"People would think I’m mad to take on that bet if there was cash involved. He proposed it on messages when I left.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Liverpool continued their winning streak in the Premier League with a 2-1 over Leicester City.
Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino got the goals for Jurgen Klopp's side and Rachid Ghezzal pulled one back for the Foxes.
