- Sheyi Ojo has penned a contract extension with the Reds before joining Stade Reims on loan
- The 21-year-old midfielder recently played on loan at Fulham and Wolves
- Ojo has made 13 competitive appearances for Liverpool’s first team
Nigerian-born Liverpool midfielder Sheyi Ojo penned a contract extension with the Premier League side before completing a switch to French Ligue 1 side Stade Reims on loan for the remaining part of 2018-19 campaign.
According to the club’s official website, the 21-year-old Ojo signed the dotted lines on August 30, 2018 before moving to France.
“The winger has committed his future to the Reds by penning the new deal before jetting out to France to link up with the Ligue 1 club.
“Ojo has previously had loan spells with Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and, most recently, Fulham,” the statement read in part.
Interestingly, Ojo was born in England, and is eligible to play for Nigeria.
At the last count, Ojo has represented England at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-19 levels during his early teens.
Furthermore, the highly-rated midfielder has won 13 competitive caps for Liverpool’s first team, netting one goal.
So far, Ojo’s new club Reims, with six points from their opening three league games this campaign, will play host to Montpellier, in their next Ligue 1 fixture on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Liverpool will allow Divock Origi, Lazar Markovic and Sheyi Ojo to leave before the transfer window closes tomorrow.
The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has arguably enjoyed the most success in the market this summer with the arrivals of Naby Keita, Alisson, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri.
However these new faces have pushed a number of his fringe players even further out of sight.
