2019 elections: Uduaghan’s defection won’t be a bane to my ambition - Okowa

Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta state has revealed that he is presently undeterred by the defection of his predecessor, stating that his defection won't affect his re-election bid for 2019.

Emmanuel Uduaghan, a former governor of the state, has early left the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), raising concern that some political bigwigs including the sitting governor may consequently be affected by the development.

But in a report by Punch, Okowa through his chief press secretary, Charles Aniagwu said his re-election cannot be determined by defection of his predecessor, and will not reduce the chance of PDP's political acceptability come 2019.

Legit.ng gathers that Uduaghan had on Tuesday defected to APC following his ambition to represent Delta-south at the Senate in the coming general elections.

Okowa wished Uduaghan well in his political pursuit, but expressed that the former governor should have stayed in the party that brought him to prominence.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that former Delta governor Emmanuel Uduaghan reportedly confirmed plan to dump PDP for APC.

It was gathered that Uduaghan said his planned defection was predicated on the crisis in the former ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
