- Marafa is a key contender for the governorship seat of Zamfara state under the platform of the APC
The senator representing Zamfara Central senatorial district, Kabiru Marafa, has extended a helping hand to the less privileged in the state.
Marafa, an APC senator, is a key contender for the governorship seat of Zamfara state under the platform of the ruling party in the forthcoming 2019 polls.
Marafa, through his campaign organisation, recently, gave 51 cars to his loyalists and gave out 2,000 bags of grains to the less privileged in the state.
Marafa has since declared his intention to vie for the governorship race in 2019 with a pledge to tackle insecurity, boost farming and address the increasing poverty in the state.
The beneficiaries of the cars include the state chairman of the APC, his vice, three zonal vice chairmen, state secretary, youth leader, organising secretary, publicity secretary, women leader, all local government chairmen and other selected party loyalists in Zamfara state.
He said the 2,000 bags of grains were distributed to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), less privileged persons and youth organisations across the state. For ease of transportation, a cash donation of N1,000 was attached to each of the 2,000 bags of grains to the beneficiaries to convey the item to their respective destinations.
Marafa has been a fiery critic of the Zamfara state governor, Abdulaziz Yari, in recent times, blaming the governor for the festering banditry in the state.

Marafa, in a statement sent to Legit.ng, said his numerous calls on the governor at different fora including on the floor of the Senate fell on deaf ears, adding that rather than the governor to make use of his advise, he tagged him as his enemy.
“Zamfara state is our only state we must therefore put all hands on deck to make it work. Like the Federal Government, I have faulted the governor's halfhearted approach to the problem of banditry that had grounded almost all activities in the state,” he said.
