Nigeria loses another pilgrim during Hajj 2018

- A man identified to be a Nigerian from Niger state has died in Mecca

- He met his death while trying to use the elevator and fell into the elevator's pit

- It was reported that the elevator was at fault and under maintenance

A Nigerian pilgrim from Niger state has been reported dead after mistakenly falling into an elevator's pit.

This is contained in a report by the News Agency of Nigeria. According to NAN, the deceased 2018 Hajj candidate stepped into the elevator under repair, leading to his fall and death.

Legit.ng gathers that all the attempts by the rescue workers mobilised by the national medical team of NAHCON to save the victim from the jugular of death proved abortive as he eventually gave up the ghost.

The medical team leader, Dr Ibrahim Kana said: “Following the tragedy that occurred this morning in house number 3 of Niger state, men of the national medical team were there for the rescue.”

He further maintained that the CCTV footage of the incident will be reviewed to get details to what happened.

This incident brings to seven the number of pilgrims from Nigeria who have lost their lives in the 2018 Hajj process.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that no fewer than two million pilgrims converged on Mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia on Monday, August 20, to mark the climax of the 2018 pilgrimage.

The event at Mount Arafat features pilgrims’ supplication for Allah’s guidance and forgiveness. It also involves staying at Arafat from sunrise until sunset as a major rite of the pilgrimage.
