- The federal government has again dismissed rumour that President Muhammadu Buhari has plans to Islamise the country
- The secretary general of the federation, Boss Mustapha, said there is no such plan by the Buhari's administration
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha has dismissed the allegation that President Muhammadu Buhari has plans to Islamise Nigeria.
The SGF said the allegation is being sold by people seeking to lure Nigeria into a religious war, and insisted no such plot exists in the Buhari's administration.
He made this statement while delivering a speech at the two-day peace summit organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (Northern Region).
The SGF said Christians in the country only needed to counter the alleged plan by Buhari with their own Christian agenda.
He said: “Nobody can kill the gospel. Where is our agenda as Christians? Let us have a Christian agenda that will promote love, including loving the Muslims; we should go out and make disciples of all nations and stop operating under the siege mentality.
“I must correct the dummy been sold by some rumour-mongers about the issue of Islamising Nigeria; nobody can (Islamise Nigeria). I want the Church to know that nobody can kill the gospel, let’s continue to be our brother’s keepers at all times and continue to preach peace.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that a group of northern pastors under the umbrella of Arewa Pastors Peace Initiative, Nigeria (APPIN), Thursday, April 5, in Abuja told President Muhammadu Buhari that those accusing his government of having Islamisation agenda were the opposition elements trying to destabilise the government.
The group who described President Buhari as God sent also promised to liaise with pastors in eastern and western parts of the country to fish out their colleagues allegedly being used by enemies to cause violence by propagating hate speech using the alter of God.
