No faction in Cross River APC - Duke

- Edem Duke, former minister of culture and tourism, said there is no faction in Cross River APC

- He noted that he wanted all the APC members in the state to work for the progress of the party

- Duke maintained that the party would be stronger if it takes over the state in 2019 election

Edem Duke, former minister of culture and tourism, on Sunday, August 26, said there is no faction in Cross River state chapter of the APC adding that the party would be stronger if all members are united and worked towards taking over the state in 2019.

The Nation reports that Duke made this known when he commissioned a new secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, “There is no faction in Cross River APC; it is interest by various stakeholders in the party in the state. However, this is good for democracy but we need to come together; reason together; and chart a new course for our great party.‘’

Duke advised APC faithful in the state to bury their interest and work for the progress of the party, adding that APC would be stronger if all members united and worked towards taking over the state in 2019.

He outlined the achievements of President Muhammad Buhari, particularly the appointment of Cross River indigenes in various positions, adding that this was enough reason for the people to vote him again in 2019.

Duke said an APC administration in the state would take special care of women and the vulnerable, if elected in the state in 2019.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Cross River state chapter of the APC defied an Abuja high court order ruling to hold state congress few days after the party and members of National Working Committee (NWC) were barred from conducting another congress.

The faction of the party gathered at Nkonib Hall in Iko Ansa about 6 am.,to conduct the congress where they elected parallel officials for the state executive of the party against those elected in May during the nationwide congresses of the party.

This development has compounded the lingering crisis which has bedeviled the party in the state for months and may make it hard to resolve despite the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
