The federal government on Monday, August 27, released a list of all the ongoing projects in the southeast region of Nigeria.
The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, said the list of the projects included roads and bridges under construction in the region.
A statement by the special assistant to the minister on media, Segun Adeyemi, said though the contracts for many of the roads were awarded before the advent of this administration, they were either poorly funded or not funded at all, hence work on the roads has lingered.
He said the 69 roads and bridges which are spread across the five states in the southeast are now in different stages of completion.
Mohammed also noted that the funding of the projects were sourced by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration from budgetary allocations, the Sukuk Bond and the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund.
According to him, the federal government is also looking into the possibility of using a part of the recovered looted funds to fund the development of infrastructure across the country.
