AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso has slammed Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko after making his debut in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Napoli.

The France international joined the San Siro giants to rebuild his career in Italy following a disastrous season at Stamford Bridge after arriving from Monaco.

Gattuso said in a post-match interview he prefers to work with "experienced" players after watching his side throw away a two-goal lead.

The Rossoneri led 2-0 after 50 minutes at the Stadio San Paolo, only for a double from Piotr Zielinski and a late goal from Dries Mertens gave the home side their second win of the season.

Bakayoko, who joined on loan earlier this month with an option of making his move permanent next summer had a bad start to his Milan campaign.

The 24-year-old was brought on moments after Zielinski pulled one back for Napoli but the change did not have the desired effect.

Afterwards, the Italian coach voiced his frustrations with Bakayoko, who also missed a good chance to restore the Milan lead at 2-2.

He moaned: “Bakayoko has to learn how to get the ball.

"We must work correctly. It will not be easy.

"One week is not enough to remove the defects of a player.

“I would have preferred to be managing older, more experienced club players."

In Gattuso's pre-match comments about his new recruit, he was full of optimism about the new player.

He said: “Bakayoko likes to play in a two-man midfield, I was surprised because we thought he was slower.

"I have to say that I was also impressed by his dynamism.

"He is technically gifted so he won’t just improve our physical game."

Milan will look to get back to winning ways on Friday when they come up against Roma at the San Siro.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Italian League giants AC Milan have completed the signing of Chelsea star Tiémoué Bakayoko on a season long loan deal.

The Frenchman moved to the Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2017 after an impressive season with Monaco after the 2016-17 season.
