Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed a winning home debut for Serie A champions Juventus against Lazio despite missing from the goals.

The encounter saw the Turin based outfit beat Lazio 2-0 to claim their second consecutive victory in the Italian topflight.

The former Los Blancos forward got the nod to star in the attack alongside the pair of Mario Mandzukic and Fernando Bernadeschi, with the duo of Paulo Dybala and Douglas Costa, handed bench roles.

Lazio had their moments during the encounter, but couldn't find a way to break Juventus defence line, before Mandzukic added the champions second on the 75 minute to ensure the Bianconeri claimed all three points.

Joao Cancelo released a lovely low cross into the penalty area, which Ronaldo tried to connect with a tap-in but a touch from the goalie took it away from the Portuguese star.

However, the big Croatian forward Mandzukic was spot on to benefit from Ronaldo’s blushes.

Interestingly, after the match the talking point was revolving on how the Portugal star reacted after Mandzukic benefited from the sitter he fluffed.

Initially, it appeared Ronaldo was fuming after he failed to hit the bulls’ eye, but the replays showed Ronaldo was all smiles despite the miss

The Portuguese was in the thick of the action throughout the match and was denied a television debut goal for the champions in the second stanza.

Lazio shot-stopper Strakosha ensured the five-time Ballon d'Or winner did not celebrate a goal during the match despite several scoring opportunities.
