2019: Akpabio’s defection will cost APC its defeat in Akwa Ibom - Obong Victor Attah

- The defection of Akwa Ibom's immediate ex-governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio, from PDP to APC has continued to brew reactions among many political stakeholders in the state

- One of such persons is a former governor of the state, Obong Victor Attah, who said that Akpabio's move has reversed the ruling party's chances of victory come the next governorship polls

- Attah further said that restructuring is the only way forward for Nigeria, adding that without it the country will crumble

A former governor of Akwa Ibom, Obong Victor Attah, has said that the defection of the immediate ex-governor of the state, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has marred the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s prospect of winning the next governorship election, Vanguard reports.

Speaking with newsmen in Lagos, Attah insisted that Nigeria must be restructured or be crumbled, arguing that this was the reason Nigeria flares are 76% of the gas produced from exploration.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Akpabio had officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.

Akpabio officially defected to the ruling party on Wednesday, August 8, at the Ikot-Ekpene township stadium in Akwa Ibom.

Legit.ng gathered some of those present at the defection ceremony were the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole; Senate majority leader, Ahmed Lawan; national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; and Nigeria's minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
