Legit.ng notes that the ruling party’s chapter in the state had been embroiled in crisis, following the emergence of two different executive councils in May 2018, from two parallel congresses.

Following voice votes from delegates, Mathew Achigbe emerged as chairman of the new executive council, John Ochalla emerged as vice chairman, and Bishop Victor Ebong emerged as secretary.

Speaking at the inauguration, the party’s national chairman, represented by the APC’s national vice chairman, south-south, Chief Hillard Eta, said it was the wisdom of the National Working Committee to dissolve the parallel executive councils and elect a new council to move the party forward in the state.

The newly-inaugurated chairman, Achigbe, promised to work hard to ensure victory for the party in 2019. He also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and Oshiomhole, for remaining committed to the rule of law.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, read the riot act to the minister of labour and employment Dr Chris Ngige and that of aviation, Hadi Sirika, on the need to inaugurate all boards under their ministries within one week or face sanctions from the party.

Oshiomhole berated the ministers for failing to reconstitute the boards, which according to him, contravenes the position of the National Executive Council and the presidential directive to all ministers, describing it as a great disrespect to the party.
