I regularly jog more than a mile everyday - Atiku

- Atiku Abubakar has revealed that he jogs more than a mile everyday

- The former vice president is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

- He said he wants Nigerians to vote for him on the basis of his ability to deliver and not as a result of anything else

Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has revealed his love for jogging. The former vice president under Olusegun Obasanjo disclosed this on his Facebook page on Wednesday, August 22.

Atiku who is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) however said his love for jogging should not be the basis for Nigerians to vote him in 2019.

He said he wants to be voted because he works and not because of his ability to walk.

"I regularly jog more than a mile and exercise, but it will be pedestrian of me to ask Nigerians to vote for me because of that. I want my party - the PDP, and Nigerians, to vote for me because I WORK not because I WALK. I will work to create jobs. I won’t walk to create an illusion," he said.

Legit.ng had reported that the presidency said President Muhammadu Buhari demonstrated his fitness to run for a second term by trekking 800 metres from the Eid-praying ground in Daura to his private residence.

President Buhari was said to have shunned protocol and opted to trek some 800 metres, acknowledging cheers from Nigerians, who lined up on his home route to catch a glimpse of him, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

One of the aspirants interested in the president’s office is Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state. He said last week that President is “too old’’ to continue to rule the country beyond 2019. According to Tambuwal, President Muhammadu Buhari is just too old to be Nigeria’s leader, despite his integrity and impeccable character.

Tambuwal stated this during a solidarity visit of students and youth in Sokoto, last week.
