The federal government has described the security situation in the northeast geopolitical zone of the country as worrisome.
The minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, made the statement shortly after a security briefing with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Monday, August 20, Vanguard reports.
Dan-Ali, told journalists that the meeting was to update the president on all the activities that occurred while he was away in London.
The minister said: “This is a normal routine security briefing with Mr President. He just came back, so we briefed him on all the activities we had while he was away. It is an update of the August 2 meeting.
“The decision that has been taken is that we have seen that there is a lot of improvement in the security situation in the country more especially in Zamfara and Benue states and in Niger Delta.

“In the North-East we are having worrisome report, we have looked into it critically and we have taken absolute decision.”
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, August 18, reportedly restated his commitment to work harder to ensure that all who looted the nation’s treasury are jailed.
Buhari stated this while answering questions from journalists after disembarking from the presidential jet at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, This Day reports.
“I will work hard the more to ensure that all those who stole the Nations money are sent to prison,” he said.
