Eden Hazard confirms he will remain at Chelsea this season

- Eden Hazard says he will stay at Stamford Bridge this season

- Real Madrid and Barcelona have been frequently linked with Hazard this summer

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has confirmed he will not be leaving the Stamford Bridge outfit this season but failed to offer guarantee on a long-term stay at West London.

According to a UK Telegraph report the Belgium captain Hazard was a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona all summer after admitting “it might be time to try something different” following the World Cup.

However, the Premier League giants snubbed offers to negotiate over Hazard insisting the playmaker is not for sale this year, despite Europe’s transfer window remaining open until the end of August.

The Belgian was handed a hero’s welcome at Stamford Bridge when he came on as a substitute against Arsenal and rewarded them with an assist as he set up Marcos Alonso’s late winner.

Hazard still has 24 months remaining on his present deal and Chelsea are ready to pay him over £300,000-a-week to remain at the club.

“Everybody knows what I have said after the World Cup,” said Hazard. “But I’m happy here. I don’t want to talk about it yet. A lot has been said, but at the moment I’m happy. I have two years left on my contract and we’ll see what happens. Leaving this year? I won’t go.”

"The transfer market in England is closed. Clubs can still sell players, but not sign new ones anymore. It would be a bit strange that they would sell me now while they can’t sign a replacement. Today we have seen that the fans quite like me. I’m good where I am now. Let’s see what happens in one or two years.”

Meanwhile, previously had reported that Chelsea Italian boss Maurizio Sarri believes Blues playmaker Eden Hazard has what it takes to dethrone Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as world’s best player.

In a UK Daily Mail report the new man at the helms of affairs at Stamford Bridge stressed that the Belgium captain is an exceptional player with the necessary ingredients to become a world class player.

The Chelsea star has been frequently linked with a switch to Santiago Bernabeu all summer but is still at West London.
