Guardiola rules out move for Marchisio after De Bruyne blow

- Pep Guardiola has dismissed rumours he will swoop for Italian star Claudio Marchisio

- The 32-year-old Italian is out of contract after leaving Juventus in June

- The champions will be without talisman Kevin De Bruyne for three months through injury

Manchester City will not be signing former Juventus star Claudio Marchisio as a replacement for injured Kevin De Bruyne.

According to a UK Sun report Citizens boss Pep Guardiola has ruled out a move for the free agent and insists he has confidence in his squad members to deputise for talented Belgian at least until the winter window opens in January.

De Bruyne was ruled out of action with an LCL injury this week for about 90 days and reports are suggesting the 32-year-old Marchisio, who left Juve in June, is on the way to the Premier League champions.

Responding about a possible swoop for Marchisio, the Spaniard said: “No. First a big comment for his career - he made an amazing career at Juventus and with the national team.

“In December, we are going to see what happens in the [next] transfer window but now the squad is the squad.”

Meanwhile, previously had reported that Manchester City have confirmed that star player Kevin De Bruyne will be out of action for the next three months due to the injury he sustained in training.

The Belgium international suffered the injury during training on Wednesday with the Premier League champions initially unsure of his recovery timescale.

But on Friday morning, Manchester United announced on social media that Kevin De Bruyne has suffered lateral collateral ligament.

The Citizens added that he will not need surgery and will be out of action for three months.
