Premier League side Arsenal have confirmed Joel Campbell will be joining Italian topflight side Frosinone on a permanent switch.

According to a UK Sun report the 26-year-old Costa Rican had been at the Emirates for seven years - but was frequently loaned out by former boss Arsene Wenger.

However, with the summer transfer window closing in Campbell has now secured a three-year deal with the Serie A campaigners.

In his first season at Arsenal from Deportivo Saprissa Campbell made 40 first-team appearances for the Gunners.

In the subsequent campaign the Costa Rican struggled for goals at Arsenal as he could only score four times in all competitions with three in the English topflight.

Going forward he spent the majority of time out on loan to clubs that include Lorient, Olympiacos, Vilarreal, Sporting Lisbon and also had two with Spanish side Real Betis.

At the summer World Cup in Russia, Campbell displayed some of his qualities in the two matches he played for Costa Rica.

“We would like to thank Joel for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future,” the Premier League club tweeted in appreciation of Campbell’s contribution to the club.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Arsenal have suffered a blow following the injury to their star player Ainsley Maitland-Niles who now face six to eight weeks on the sidelines.

The 20-year-old Englishman limped out of the Gunners' opening day defeat to Manchester City and the club have now confirmed he sustained a small fracture to his left fibula.

Against Manchester City, Ainsley Maitland-Niles deputized for left-back Sead Kolasinac who is also injured and will return in October this year.
