Manchester United deny bust-up between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho

- Manchester United have rubbished reports of a Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba rift

- The club say the Portuguese boss and the France World Cup winner are not quelling

- Pogba insists he was proud to be club captain but would not be drawn on future

Premier League side Manchester United have denied reports claiming club boss Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba had a big bust-up as "absolute nonsense", insisting the pair have a good relationship.

According to UK Sky Sports report many news outlets reported on Thursday that Mourinho had warned the France World Cup winner not to speak out to the media and he should request for a transfer if he is unhappy with the Old Trafford outfit.

The report further hinted that the Red Devils snubbed an offer for Pogba from Barcelona earlier in August and despite handing the Frenchman the skipper’s armband for their Premier League's opening win against Leicester, his comments after the game suggested all was not well at club.

"If you're not happy, you cannot give your best," Pogba said having taken the unusual step of stopping on three occasions to speak to reporters at Old Trafford. "There are things that I cannot say otherwise I will get fined."

Indeed it was a man-of-the-match display in the 2-1 win over Leicester City that had the Portuguese boss Mourinho describing the 25-year-old World Cup winner as a "monster".

Interestingly, in the reports on Thursday it was claimed that the former Juventus midfielder had fired back by telling Mourinho he pass through his agent Mino Raiola if he has any intentions to speak to him formally again.

However, the club’s eggheads are unhappy by these stories calling them "absolute nonsense".

The Frenchman missed out the Red Devils tour of the US due to his involvement in the summer World Cup exploits but returned early for training and was a surprise starter against the Foxes.

Pogba rejoined Manchester United in a then-world record fee of £93.25m in 2016 and he has 36 months left on his present deal at the Premier League giants.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Real Madrid have reportedly jumped in the chase to sign unsettled Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba this summer.

The midfielder, who led France to the 2018 FIFA World Cup triumph in Russia has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona but the move wasn't sanctioned by the Old Trafford's chiefs.

However, with Los Blancos disappointing defeat to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup in Estonia on Wednesday, the Red Devils have to fight to keep their star man.
