- The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) wants Nigerians to expect rains and thunderstorms in parts of the country on Friday, August 17
- NiMet says there would be morning rains in Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi and Kano
- The agency further predicts that some states including Bauchi, Adamwa and Gombe will also experience rain
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), on Thursday, August 16, released a prediction of the weather condition for Friday, August 17, urging Nigerians to expect rains in parts of the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NiMet’s prediction was released by its weather outlook by its central forecast office in Abuja.
The report quoted NiMet as predicting morning thunderstorm over Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Bauchi and parts of Borno, Gombe and Yobe.

It also predicted late evening thunderstorms over Bauchi, Adamwa and Gombe axis in the evening period.
According to the agency, day and night temperature in the northern region would be in the ranges of between 29 and 34 degree celsius and 21 and 25 degree celsius respectively.
For the central region, the agency stated that day and night temperature would be in the range of 23 and 31 degree celsius and 15 and 24 degree celsius respectively.
The agency predicted day and night temperature in the southern states would be in the range of 28 and 32 degree celsius and 22 and 23 degree celsius respectively.
NiMet further predicted thunderstorms that would affect parts of Plateau, Kaduna, Nassarawa, Abuja, Adamawa, Benue and Niger states in the morning hours.
It added that storm would linger over the central states and extend to affect the rest of the areas including Kwara and Kogi.

NiMet predicted morning rains over the southeast and its coastal cities, while the south west would be mostly cloudy.
It also claims that afternoon holds promise for wide spread rain to affect both the south western and south eastern states including their coastal areas.
