Good news as Kano state approves recruitment of 1,196 female teachers, N450m for capacity building

- Not less than 1,196 females have been employed to work as secondary school teachers by the Kano state government

- The state government also approved N450m for capacity building and training of 500 mathematics and science teachers by the National Teachers Institute (NTI)

- Muhammad Garba, the state commissioner for information, youth and culture, said that this is part of the government's efforts to raise the standard of education in the state

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano has approved the employment of 1,196 female teachers with the National Certificate of Education (NCE) throughout the state, Vanguard reports.

The announcement was made by Muhammad Garba, the state commissioner for information, youth and culture, during his briefing to journalists in the state.

The state government has therefore directed the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) to prepare appointment letters for the prospective teachers and include their names in the state basic education board' s payroll.

In the same vein, the state government recently approved N450 million for capacity building and training of 500 mathematics and science teachers by the National Teachers Institute (NTI).

According to Garba, this was part of the government's moves to boost the standard of education in the ultimate bid to give the state the lead in the sector and empower women through the provision of employment.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a video of pupils in Kano state who were served food in sheets of paper has set the social media ablaze with reactions and comments. The video was released by the Voice of America (VOA), Hausa on Monday, June 4.

Legit.ng gathered that the pupils complained that the food served them lacked ingredients compared to what they get at their various homes.
