Leicester City are reportedly planning to hand England international Harry Maguire a new improved deal to keep Manchester United off his chase.
The 25-year-old, who was impressive for the Three Lions at the 2018 FIFA World Cup staged in Russia has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.
However, the former Premier League champions insisted their man was never up for sale as his new deal will see him earn £75,000 as against his previous £45,000 according to the Daily Mail.
Maguire joined the Foxes in the summer of 2017 and has four more years on his current deal with the King Power outfit.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho was willing to splash up to £65 million for the defender but all his advances were rejected.
Other center backs United boss wanted on the last day of EPL transfer window were Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng, Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld and Atletico Madrid's Diego Godin, but failed to sign any at the close of the window.
The Portuguese tactician has however decided to keep both Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian at Old Trafford until at least January, according to reports.
Both players' were said to have been declared surplus to requirement earlier in the season, but they could leave in the coming weeks with the summer transfer window still open in some top European leagues.
Darmian, who played all 90 minutes of Manchester United's 2-1 win over Leicester City, has been linked with a move to Benfica.
While Marcos Rojo, who only signed a contract extension with the club in March, has been the subject of a loan deal for Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho is eager to land a center-back at the ongoing summer transfer and the Old Trafford dwellers tried to price Maguire two weeks ago after failing to seal a move for Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld with the North London side insisting on £75 million.
On the other hand, Maguire moved to Leicester City last summer in a deal that could rise to as much as £17m but his valuation increased after a decent performance at the global football fiesta with England’s Three Lions, appearing in all seven of England games.
