Modric’s agent confirms the Croatian superstar will play in Serie A

- Luka Modric is repeatedly linked with a move away from Real Madrid to Inter this summer

- The Croatia star is eager to leave the Los Blancos ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline

- Real Madrid are not ready to sanction the sale of the World Cup superstar

Real Madrid star midfielder Luka Modric has been frequently linked with a switch to Serie A side Inter Milan all through the summer transfer window and his agent understands "sooner or later Luka will play in Italy".

According to a UK Sun report citing Italian newspaper Tuttosport the Croatia star is keen to leave the Los Blancos for the Serie A outfit but Real Madrid are not eager to let go of the World Cup superstar.

At the moment, Inter are working to seal the move as the summer transfer window in the Italian topflight ends this Friday.

The report further suggests Modric is more likely to quit the Santiago Bernabeu for a transfer fee next year or as a free agent in 2020 when his present deal at the Los Blancos comes to an end.

The Croatian's agent Marko Naletilic told Tuttosport: "For whatever reason, Modric wants to be a star in Serie A with Inter. Let's see.

"I believe that sooner or later Luka will play in Italy. Like a lot of Croatians his age, he grew up watching Italian football."

Naletilic further noted that Cristiano Ronaldo's £99million switch from Galaticos to Serie A champs Juventus influenced Modric's desire to want to ply his trade in the Italian topflight.

"The fact Inter Milan tried to sign him and Modric took it into consideration shows the influence Cristiano Ronaldo is already having on Italian football,” the agent added.

Already, Ronaldo made his debut for Juventus on Monday against the club's second team in the annual friendly, but it was abandoned with 20 minutes of play left due to the traditional fans' pitch invasion.

Real Madrid are not eager to allow Modric leave after his compatriot and fellow midfielder Mateo Kovacic teamed up with Chelsea on a season-long loan.

However, it is no longer a secret that Inter are willing to sign Modric, but club boss Luciano Spalletti confessed he was expecting the deal to see the light of the day.

"The fact that he has interest in us is a great sign for our project.

"It's not easy to get these type of players. He may not come but our directors still did a great job, so let's see.

"I don't think he will come, because Real Madrid still want to count on him. We're a strong side. If Modric were to join us, we'd be very strong,” Spalletti said.

Meanwhile, previously had reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has lifted the lid on the factors that masterminded his decision to leave Spanish giants Real Madrid for a move to Juventus.

The former Manchester United star left the Bernabeu after nine years earlier this summer joining Juve in a £88million deal in July.
