Real Madrid set their target on Chelsea star Marcos Alonso

- Real Madrid turn their attention to Chelsea star Marcos Alonso

- The Chelsea star was an academy graduate at the Bernabeu club

- The Spain international missed out of the World Cup in Russia

Real Madrid have set their sight on Chelsea left-back Alonso, Daily Star quoting Don Balon.

The Span international was virtually an ever-present under former Blues boss Antonio Conte.

And Alonso was excellent display in Chelsea's 3-0 victory over Huddersfield that would have impressed the European champions.

The former Fiorentina star won a penalty against the Terriers with a dynamic run into the penalty area and rattled the crossbar with a volley in the second half.

Alonso is now reportedly on Los Blancos boss Julen Lopetegui’s hit list despite having missed out of Spain's World team to Russia.

Los Blancos have just signed Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea and been heavily linked with Eden Hazard too.

While the Spanish giants already have one of the best left-backs in the game in Marcelo, they demand maximum competition for every position in the squad.

And Spanish news media out Don Balon claim Alonso’s versatility has impressed Real’s top brass.

The wing-back joined Real Madrid's youth system as a youngster and went on to represent every youth side in the following years.

Alonso made his Bernabeu debut in 2010 under Manuel Pellegrini but he ultimately failed to make the grade and was sold on.

Alonso signed for Chelsea for £24m and matured into one of the Premier League’s top full-backs after spells at Bolton and Fiorentina.

He is particularly deadly with free-kicks around the penalty area and has scored 14 goals in 83 Blues appearances.

Alonso's contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2021 and has impressed the Blues' new manager Sarri so far.

Asked about how his new boss is settling in, Alonso said: “So far, so good.

“I think he has a great style and we are just learning new things now to get used to it very quickly.

“He likes to play football, he likes to press high, to try to have control of the ball and so control of the game.

“It could be more similar to the Spanish style, but he has some Italian aspects as well.”

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Chelsea manager Mauricio Sarri has waxed lyrical over David Luiz - insisting the Brazilian has a 'big future' at Stamford Bridge.

Luiz was frozen under Antonio Conte last season, which cost him a place in Brazil's squad to the World Cup in Russia.
