- Arsenal manager Unai Emery says Petr Cech remains his number 1 goalie at the Emirates
- Emery added that new goalkeeper Bernd Leno will have to wait for his time at the club
- Petr Cech was in goal for Arsenal on Sunday and conceded two goals against Manchester City
Despite his unconvincing display against Manchester City on Sunday at the Emirates, Arsenal coach Unai Emery has insisted that goalkeeper Petr Cech remains his number 1.
The former Chelsea goalie struggled with the ball at his feet against the Premier League champions, but his manager at the Emirates is not perturbed with the 36-year-old.
Many Arsenal fans thought new goalkeeper Bernd Leno will be in goal for the Gunners against Manchester City, but Unai Emery says he will have to wait for his time at the Emirates.
''Leno is starting with us and he is working very well and played very good in pre-season. He can wait for his moment.
''Petr Cech is doing very good and he played good also. He has experience of defending our goal,'' Emery explained according to DailyMail.
Although Cech was not at error for either of the two goals he conceded against Pep Guardiola's side, but he appeared to struggle when tasked with finding the right pass at the right moment.
Meanwhile, one Arsenal fan believes Bernd Leno should start against Chelsea after Cech allowed two goals in against Manchester City.
Speaking to ArsenalFanTv host Robbie Lyle, Mr DT said: “If we’re going to play that style of football from the back, Petr Cech can’t go in goal, it’s as simple as that.
“He’s just so clumsy with his feet and he nearly scored an own goal. If you pay £25m or whatever it was for Leno, play him.”

The Gunners were beaten 2-0 by the Citizens at the Emirates stadium with Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva scoring the two goals that condemned Arsenal to a defeat in front of their fans.
