Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says the Spanish champions have left the door open on a possible bid for Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman has been linked with a potential move away from the English topflight and the Spanish champions have emerged as his likely destination.

Pogba captained the Red Devils in their Premier League opener and netted the opening goal from the penalty spot in a 2-1 win over Leicester City.

However, the Frenchman seems unsatisfied with events in Manchester with comments made after the encounter.

"There are things I can say and there are things I cannot say - otherwise I will get fined," said the Pogba.

"When people trust you, then you're good in your own head, and it's going to be easier.

"I always give my best for the fans, for the team mates, and for the people that trust me."

On the other hand, Barcelona commenced their new campaign with a 2-1 Super Cup win over Sevilla in Tangier on Sunday evening, Ousmane Dembele's late rocket ensuring victory.

Reacting after the showdown in Morocco, Bartomeu said: "I won't speak of any names, we have respect for all clubs and there are 20 days left.

"We'll see which players come out. We're focused on the League, so it's best to ask [Eric] Abidal, [Ramon] Planes or Pep Segura about players.

"There's still time to do business."

At the last count, Barcelona have already signed four new players that include Malcom, Arthur, Clement Lenglet and Arturo Vidal this season.

However, additional reports continue to suggest that Barcelona are eager to further add quality to their midfield, ahead of a Champions League push this term, having fallen at the quarter-final stage for the second successive season last year.

However, United chiefs are loathe to sell Pogba, and particularly after the close of the transfer window in England.

Meanwhile, previously had reported that Paul Pogba post-match comments after Friday night's win against Leicester suggests and the Manchester United midfielder may not be completely happy.

The 25-year-old who just returned to training a few days ago was a surprise starter for United in their 2-1 win over the Foxes, where he scored the first goal.

Rumours of a move to Barcelona have surfaced in the past few days, but the Red Devils are unwilling to let the Frenchman leave this summer.

There have also been persistent murmurings of a broken relationship with Mourinho, with Pogba having failed to hit top form last season.
