- Blues manager Sarri hints Bakayoko will go on loan this summer
- The French star was signed as a replacement for Nemanja Matic last term
- Chelsea will kickoff their 2018-19 season away at Huddersfield Town
New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has reportedly declared France international Tiémoué Bakayoko surplus to requirement this season.
The Italian born tactician joined the Blues this summer after replacing Antonio Conte at the Stamford Bridge.
He signed Jorginho from Napoli in a five year deal valued around €57 million, while Mateo Kovacic joined on loan from Real Madrid.
However, the new boss will have no use for the midfielder after informing the club's chiefs they loan him out for the season.
Bakayoko joined the Premier League side last summer as a replacement for Nemanja Matic, but doesn't fit into his manager's plans this term.
He said: "Now I think the squad is too large. "Some players have to go on loan. I don't know who at the moment.
"I prefer to have 23 or 24 players and three or four very young players. No more."
The Italian manager also hints that Cesar Azpilicueta will take over the armband as Chelsea's new captain, if only for tomorrow according to Sunsport.
And he remains unsure if new signing Kepa Arrizabalaga will start in goal at the Kirklees Stadium or if it will be Willy Caballero between the sticks.
He added: "For tomorrow, I think Azpilicueta, but it's not the final decision.
"I want to know the players well. I want to know the man well. Then, when my idea is clear, I will make a decision. The final one."
Legit.ng previously reported that Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri says it could take his side up to 90 days to reach top form with his tactical inputs and playing style.
The Blues' pre-season preparations suffered hiccups by the late return of extended vacation to squad members like Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard, Michy Batshuayi, N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud who played at the summer World Cup in Russia.
Belgium’s Batshuayi was the latest returnee who did not feature in their 0-0 draw with Lyon in the International Champions Cup on Tuesday and Sarri says it is better late than never with Chelsea’s Premier League campaign kicking off at Huddersfield on Saturday.
