Danny Ings leaves Liverpool for loan move to Southampton on deadline day

- Danny Ings joins Southampton on loan after challenging spell with Liverpool

Liverpool striker Danny Ings has joined Southampton in a season long loan on Thursday, August 9, deadline day in England.

The deal would be made permanent for the England international at St Mary's from July 1, 2019.

The 26-year-old moved from Burnley to Liverpool in June 2015 and made 25 appearances for the club, scoring four goals.

But Ings' career at Anfield has been hampered by injuries as he was required to twice battle back from serious knee problems during his time with the Reds.

The first of which occurred just days when Jürgen Klopp was appointed manager of the Merseyside club.

His popularity among both his teammates and the club’s supporters was demonstrated by the joyous scenes when he bounced back to action after long spell on the sidelines.

Ings’ scored his first senior goal in two-and-a-half years when he netted during the 2-2 draw at West Bromwich Albion in April.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Chelsea stars Olivier Giroud and Eden Hazard have been urging Nabil Fekir to join the Blues after snubbing Liverpool.

Fekir had seemed all set to join the Reds for around £50m before the World Cup , only for his transfer from Lyon to dramatically collapse at the last minute.
